Monument Peak Ridge — Trinity Alps Wilderness — California

Just returned from my first backpacking trip of the season. This shot was taken from the ridge near Monument Peak. Upper Rush Creek Lake (not shown) is down below — about two hundred yards down the ridge to the left — the lake was still about 95 percent frozen over. [5-21-14]
Upper left — far distance — mostly hidden by that jagged sawtoothed ridge — a slight glimpse of Trinity Lake. [All that exposed shoreline (bathtub ring) testifies to just how low the water — severe drought conditions here in California.]
