Guadalupe Peak – Backcountry Campsite

This camp is situated at something like 7,900 feet. The cliff’s edge immediately behind the tree overlooks Pine Springs Canyon and across to Guadalupe Peak.
We spend about 12 hours in our tents due to extremely high winds (up to around 70mph I’d guess) and temperatures that would drop into the low 20s. Setting up the tents was difficult to say the least. Only rope ties and large rocks inside the tents kept them from flying away. This photo was taken on the second, much calmer day, just before we left. – John Little
