Did you know: Sea otters eat 25 percent of their body weight in food every day? Their diet includes sea urchins, crabs, mussels and clams, which they’re known to crack open with a rock and eat while floating in the water. Sea otters aren’t just cute, they’re an essential keystone species, keep their ecosystem in check. They control the sea urchin population, which in turn prevents kelp forests from being overgrazed.
